Just wanted to give a quick post for an old family friend who I had got to visit and photograph not too long ago. Here are some of the awesome photos we captured and a little something her sister (the one who gifted the session to them) had to say..

"Devon Vp is by far the greatest photographer ever! He is absolutely amazing when it comes to taking family pictures, he got my niece to smile more than once and she doesnt smilefor anybody or anything!"

Melissa Sanders (Dancer, Dance Instructor, and Dance Wear Vendor) and her newly inaugurated Police Officer husband, Joe, called me for a traditional Family portrait session at Fairmount Park, in Riverside, California.

Not much to say that these photos don't already, other than these two were definitely some of my favorite clients to date. Not just because they were great to photograph, but becasue Melissa is a Business Woman/Mom and Joe was a fan of my Volvo Stationwagon. He scored a ton of points there...

Dancer? Take a look at Melissa's...

*As Promised! New Content! :D*Some new clients I got to photograph a little while back in Riverside, These photos came out fantastically. It was the first time I ever met this young couple in person as they found me online, so it was a little slow at first, but we all quickly started to really feel the shoot. Despite their friendly young one, Jadon, being incredibly relunctant to smile, even after getting ice cream and the shoot was over, we still got some amazingly cute photos of him and the entire family.

Beautiful Budding new family. I was very hap...

Now I know what you're thinking, "Devon, I thought you were the 'PORTRAIT Specialist', not the 'Event Specialist'.". Well Professionally, My specialty is Portraiture. I seldomly venture into anything that isn't just straight portraits. I've turned down some well paying gigs just because they weren't my niche. Truth is that I don't want to have a client pay me for something that isn't my specialty. Its the same reason I wouldn't ask an exterminator to fix my car. But occasionally I do like to volunteer my time and talent for my community, no matter the...

So I recently reconnected with a Jenaveive Willette who I've worked with before (as seen here), however this time I was helping her submit something to a Magazine to get published. Jenaveive is a very talented Makeup artist. I had to tell her that several times as I watched her paint this girls face (Ruby Montes).

The theme was Pink. We decided with the concept you see here and, incredibly, she pretty much made it exactly as we had imagined it. I mean, we didn't even have a drawing or anything. This was entirely in her head until she made it reality....

Im really not that much of a car enthusiast, despite my dad being a Master Mechanic, but I wanted to give a helping hand to my community after discovering that this seemingly popular anual event in Fontana didn't have any pro photos of their event to advertise (at least I couldn't find any).

If you attended the event, you can find your photos here

February 22, 2014

So 1 month in and I've realized that this whole photo challenge thing, isn't for me, nor for anyone else tring to run a business.. First off let me set the record straight that I WILL continue to post How-To's on photography projects of MY choice. However, I will no longer continue to do whatever some stupid piece of paper tells me in the small amount of time that it allots me every single week. I mean thats why we all left High School, right? I have a very high standard for the work that I like to show my viewers, and for me to put a large amount of...

If you're friends with me on my persoanl facebook, you'll know that I go all out with my self portraits. Well this time, in celebration of Valentine's Day, I did something a little different..

As you can see, I added my sister!

Kidding of course. That lovely lady in the picture with me is my Beautiful Girlfriend of 2 and a half years. Surprisingly it took us this long to finally take some pictures together. So kinda on a whim, we got all pretty looking, grabbed my camera and tripod, and headed to Fairmount Park in Riverside, CA. And even though she...

It took 4 freakin days to make this shot. Weather hasn't been the most predictable here in Southern California. Fortunately, luck was on my side and I woke up to a nice cloudy day, which was exactly what I needed for this shot.

So This shot was actually inspired by a photo I found a while back ago. Don't remember where, don't remember when, but it came to me when I saw the subject of this weeks photo challenge.

On to the How-To. I grabbed a buddy of mine to model for me but it is possibly to model yourself as a tirpod will used anyway. Just much eas...

This weeks Photo Challenge is food! Didn't quite like this one either... But it's challenge! So I had to do it.

Today we have thinly sliced delicious Oranges, stacked onto one another on a black painted sheet of metal (Which is actually the detatchable side panel of my desktop computer). This one was a little more difficult and time consuming than last week's. Instead of natural light, I used my room's ceiling light as the main light, and a Speedlight with a warming filter (Orange peice of plastic) as an accent on the side.

I arranged my orang...
